On July 20, as part of the Cēsu city festival, JSC “Cēsu alus” and “Cēsu novadas pašvaldība” presented the annual award “Cēsnieks”. This year, the winner of the title “Cēsnieks 2019” is the choreographer and founder and leader of the dance group “Viva” Inga Cipe.
Inga Cipe’s heart belongs to dance, and with her creativity she has inspired hundreds of children and young people to turn to modern dance. This year, Inga’s favorite dance group “Viva” celebrated its 20th anniversary. Inga is also the director and choreographer of countless events and performances for excellent projects, including the director of the performances of the Song and Dance Festival.
Cēsu county council chairman Jānis Rozenbergs and Cēsu alus communications manager Agita Kārkliņa present the Cēsnieks 2019 award to Inga Cipe
Eva Sietiņsone, chairman of the board of JSC “Cēsu alus”: “Cēsis can be proud of talented and passionate people who do their work from the heart and contribute to the development of the city. This year, according to the residents’ evaluation, the title of “Cēsis 2019″ was awarded to Inga Cipe, choreographer. We hope that this award will inspire Inga and other Cēsis residents for many more creative projects.”
Jānis Rozenbergs, chairman of Cēsu county council: “I am pleased that AS Cēsu alus has maintained this wonderful tradition for more than 20 years, allowing us to thank the people of Cēsis who make a lasting contribution to the town’s development and recognition. Cēsis has become Latvia’s cultural capital thanks to its residents, who work every day to keep this spark alive throughout the town and within its people. Inga has put an impressive amount of hard work into helping the children of Cēsis learn to dance, become more active and, in turn, happier. We sincerely thank Inga for her contribution to dance and for the wonderful events created under her artistic direction. I know that her example will inspire more and more young people to lead active lives. The greatest wealth of Cēsis is its people, and Inga proves that every day!”
The candidates nominated for the “Cēsnieks 2019” award were determined by the jury committee, evaluating the most significant events and activities in the life of the city of Cēsu. Among the candidates for the 2019 “Cēsnieks” award were Rodions Kurucs, a basketball player, Astrida Kamša, head of the cultural association “Harmonija”, and Inga Cipe, a choreographer. This year, taking into account the relatively small difference in votes, Astrida Kamša, the head of the cultural association “Harmonija”, who has devoted 40 years of her working life to shaping Cēsu’s culture and social life, was also thanked at the award ceremony.
From July 8 to 17, every citizen of Cēsis and resident of Latvia had the opportunity to vote for the candidates nominated by the commission and determine the winner of the title “Cēsnieks 2019”. Voting took place electronically www.cesnieks.lv, as well as by delivering coupons from the newspapers “Druva” and “Cēsu Vēstis” to the voting points.
“Cēsnieks” is an award established by the joint-stock company “Cēsu alus” with the aim of honoring persons who performed their work excellently and from the heart, and whose performance positively affected the reputation of the city of Cēsu. Since 1999, this honorable title has been awarded to 21 people, among whom were representatives of culture, science, history, sports and social spheres.
