On July 17, as part of the Cēsu city festival, AS “Cēsu alus” and “Cēsu novadas municipality” presented the annual award “Cēsnieks”. This year, the winner of the title “Cēsnieks 2021” is Uldis Skroders, author of the lighting project of Cēsu St. John’s Church.

In the summer of 2020, one of the brightest moments of the Cēsu city festival was the lighting of the Cēsu St. John’s Church and the musical light show, which was highly appreciated by the guests of the Cēsu city. Thanks to Ulda’s passion, personal approach and interest, this unique light and music adventure inspires Česi residents and Cēsu city guests on weekends, shining over the city. Also this year, as part of the Cēsu city festival, on Saturday evening, city guests could watch a new light and music performance.

Agita Kārkliņa, communication manager of JSC “Cēsu alus”: “Cēsis can be proud of many enterprising, talented and passionate people who selflessly, wholeheartedly do their work and contribute to the development of the city. Every year, when evaluating what has been done, it is a big challenge to nominate only 4 or 5 candidates for the award. This year, according to the residents’ assessment, the title of “Cēsnieks 2021″ has been awarded to Uldis Skroder, who heads Cēsu St. John’s church lighting and musical project. I wish that this award inspires Uldi for many more creative projects!”

“This year, the constellation of nominees was extremely strong, and each of them has done excellent things and we are proud of each of them! But the honor of becoming the Cēsis member of the year is more than deserved by Uldi. The way he invested his energy, time and funds so that the heart of our city, St. John’s Church, shines in a never-before-seen light is a unique contribution not only to Cēsis, but to the whole of Latvia. In addition, his creative return, his attitude towards details and technical knowledge are priceless! Because it has been a difficult year, but this game of light and music of St. John’s Church united and brought joy to both the residents of Česi and the guests of the city,” emphasizes Jānis Rozenbergs, chairman of Cēsu county council.
