On July 22, as part of the Cēsu city festival, the annual JSC “Cēsu alus” award “Cēsnieks” was presented. This year, the winner of the title “Cēsnieks 2017” is businessman Juris Kozlovskis.
Juris Kozlovskis is the chairman of the board of the construction company SIA “Wolf System”. The company he manages in Cēsis is valued as a reliable and generous employer that implements modern and creative construction projects. Jura’s support to Cēsu educational institutions, sports teams and disabled children is especially appreciated.
The candidates nominated for the “Cēsnieks 2017” award were determined by the commission, evaluating the most significant events and activities of the previous year in the life of the city of Cēsu. Among the candidates for the 2017 “Cēsnieks” award were Līga Priedīte, choir conductor and Cēsu Music High School teacher, Ingus Laiviņš, long-time Latvian floorball leader, Tālis Pumpuriņš, Cēsu Museum of History and Art historian and Juris Kozlskis, entrepreneur. From July 10 to 18, every citizen of Cēsis and resident of Latvia had the opportunity to vote for the candidates nominated by the commission and determine the winner of the title “Cēsnieks 2017”. Voting took place electronically at www.cesnieks.lv or by delivering coupons from the newspapers “Druva” and “Cēsu Vēstis” to the voting points.

Every year, the commission of the “Cēsnieks” award has an increasing challenge to select and nominate only a few candidates for this honorary title. Every applicant for the award has done important work and according to the assessment of the residents, the title of “Cēsnieks 2017″ is awarded to businessman Juris Kozlovsky. I congratulate Juri on the title!”

“Cēsnieks” is an award established by the joint-stock company “Cēsu alus” with the aim of honoring persons who performed their work excellently and from the heart, and whose performance positively affected the reputation of the city of Cēsu. Since 1999, this honorable title has been awarded to 19 people, among whom were representatives of culture, science, history, sports and the social sphere.
